Langlade County Jail Overview

Langlade County Jail is operated by the Langlade County Sheriff's Office. It is the only local detention facility identified in the facility map for this project. The jail serves the county's arrest, warrant, pretrial, sentenced county-jail, Huber, and electronic-monitoring population. The Sheriff's Office also operates from the public-safety building area and works with Antigo Police and other local agencies.

The facility sits in Antigo's custody and court cluster. The jail and Sheriff's Office are at 840 Clermont Street, while the courthouse, Clerk of Circuit Court, and District Attorney are at 800 Clermont Street. That close layout affects daily jail business. Custody questions start with the jail. Court files and dispositions go through WCCA or the Clerk. Formal charging decisions come from the District Attorney, not from the jail roster or booking reason.

Langlade County Jail Population

The jail's current official rated capacity was not located in the public county or DOC web text reviewed. That should be stated plainly. The county corrections page gives many jail operations details, but it does not publish a current bed count. A June 10, 2021 Public Safety Committee reference cited about 90 inmates on a daily average and discussed capacity. That is useful history, not a live count.

The Wisconsin DOC Office of Detention Facilities annual report gives a better admissions trend. Langlade adult jail admissions were 1,273 in 2018, 1,247 in 2019, 523 in 2020, and 728 in 2025. Admissions do not equal today's head count. They show how many adults entered the jail during the year, while the jail phone is the better current custody channel.

Langlade County Jail Booking

After an arrest by the Sheriff's Office, Antigo Police, or another agency, the person is transported to the jail for intake. The jail verifies identity, checks warrants and holds, handles property, creates jail records, and moves the person into housing if not released. Phone access begins after the person is moved to a housing area. Tablets are available upon booking for video visitation, messaging, voicemails, movies, games, books, and education.

People brought in on new charges or warrants normally appear before the judge or by Zoom at 1:30 p.m. the day following arrest, Monday through Friday. Court appearances may be viewed on a monitor in the courthouse courtroom. This schedule is set by the court, so court-time questions should be checked with court channels when a case has opened.

Langlade County Jail Bond

Bond for Langlade County Sheriff's Office or Antigo Police charges can be posted at the Clerk of Courts during business hours. After hours, bond is posted at the jail visiting lobby. The Clerk accepts cash and bank checks, not credit or debit cards. The jail kiosk accepts cash or credit card after hours. Cash bond through the kiosk has a $3.25 processing fee, and credit-card bond payments have a 10 percent fee.

Out-of-county warrant bond has a separate rule. The county page says the subject must be in custody of another Wisconsin jail or facility, and bond may be accepted at Langlade County Jail in the amount of the warrant. A hold or detainer can still prevent release after one bond is paid.

Langlade County Jail Programs

The most concrete local program details are Huber work release and EMP/GPS monitoring. Sentenced people granted Huber privileges receive court instructions about reporting. They must complete the Huber and electronic-monitoring setup packet and bring it when reporting. EMP applications should be sent in for prior approval.

Wisconsin DOC's Office of Detention Facilities provides oversight through jail standards, inspection, technical assistance, and data collection. Grievance procedure, religious services, GED, vocational programming, and reentry partnership details were not located on the official jail page. Call the jail administrator or jail line for current program availability.

Note: Confirm custody, visit rules, and account setup with the jail before sending money or driving to Antigo.
